Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Z-Line Ninjas Deluxe Zipline Playset review

Pierre loves the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so he was very pleased when the postie dropped off some new turtle-tastic toys for us to try out.

We received the Billboard Breakout Z-Line Ninjas Deluxe Zipline Playset that needs to be stuck on a corner wall.

We also got two more action figures to add to Pierre's growing collection - Leonardo and a slightly scary-looking Kirby Bat.

We unpacked the box, which was full of lots of little bits that I'd need to fit together and put in the right places, but, as it was time to start cooking dinner, I said we'd leave it until the next day.

Unfortunately, Pierre couldn't wait that long and this is the tangled mess I came back to the next day. After a lot of patience and quiet swearing under my breath, I did manage to untangle it all but it was hard-going !

The playset sticks on the wall with adhesive Command strips. There's a handy little tool to make sure you get the angle and the spacing right for it all to be lined up properly.

We were a bit limited because you need space in a corner for this playset so I ended up sticking the billboard section on the wardrobe door.

And the gargoyle launcher on the adjacent wall. The green zipwires have simple snap-and-go connectors and can be connected to various points on the playset but, even following the instructions, I did find it really confusing to work out what should go where for the Z-line to work. You need a third point to attach the lines  to which can be another wall or furniture (there's a screw fastener or another Command strip option) so that the Z-line can be set up and - finally - the turtles can zip down the line, kick the billboard railing and make the baddie fall down. Pierre thinks it's great fun but I did find it very labour-intensive for setting it all up (although I did have to add an extra 1/2 hour untangling knotted strings !).

Here's how it should look - I must admit, I couldn't get mine to work this well. The green boomerang-shaped piece designed to make them go round cornersdidn't work (not the right angle maybe? and the G-clip kept popping off the shelf I'd attached it to). If - like I was - you're worried about the risk of strangulation, the connectors are designed to pop apart if you put too much weight on them or pull on them too hard. This does mean that if you use overly large turtle figures, the ziplines will pop out though.
